Croatian sport club SRK Alba and SportBox organize from 15 to 17 April 2016 the 4th edition of 100 Miles of Istria, ultra trail race across the Istrian peninsula. The race has grown into 1000+ competitors event and it’s certainly the biggest and the most important trail running event in the region.
You can start either on the east coast (100miles start from Labin and 110km start from Lovran) or from the center of Istria (69km start from Buzet and 42km start from Motovun). The finish is on the western part of the Istria peninsula, in Umag. In between are kilometers of nice trails that leads you through picturesque Istrian villages and little towns.
A 100 mile category will have the same length as last year (173km) but with a bit less elevation (6500m). You’ll cross all the main mountains and peaks in Istria and visit bunch of pretty old towns.
A 110 kilometers will also cross Istria from east to west, but with less elevation gain and loss than the 100 miles. The course aims to be as straight as possible towards Umag.
A 69 kilometers will start in Buzet and follow the 100 kilometers race route for the most part.
A 42 kilometers is the new distance introduced this year. You’ll start from Motovun, one of the nicest little towns in Istria.
