It is not possible to list and describe every trail suitable for running so we won’t do it. Instead, we will try to show you trails that we like, that we use for training or races. If you are traveling through Croatia (or you just moved in) and you are fond of trail running, you can start with these trails, maybe meet some of us and experience Croatia as we do it.
Trails are divided by geographical regions and areas to help you find the trail near your current location. Regions that are covered are usually around some cities or towns where there is established trail running community. That does not mean that you can’t go running somewhere else. For the moment, only Zagreb region is covered as this is my place of living, but we will soon add information about other regions and ares.
If you decide to take your own way, we recommend taking marked hiking trails or follow one of walking trails described in Cicerone’s guide Walking in Croatia.
Hiking trails in Croatia are marked with red-and-white signs, so if you follow them, you shouldn’t get lost. The collection of Croatia’s hiking maps can be ordered through Smand publisher’s website or bought in a bookshop or at the entrance to national or nature parks.
